Skills for the moments that matter

Good intentions are not a response plan.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based, skills-based training that teaches people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges. Learners practice how to provide initial support while maintaining clear professional and personal boundaries.

Recognize

Notice possible signs and warning signals and distinguish urgent situations from noncrisis support needs.

Respond

Use the MHFA Action Plan and practice calm, nonjudgmental listening during difficult conversations.

Connect

Encourage appropriate professional, peer, community, and self-help resources while staying within the First Aider role.
